Indefinite leave to remain in the UK can be obtained by way of family route, employment route, continuous lawful residence route and permanent residency under EU regulations (EEA route).

It is usually a continuous period of living and working in the UK for 5 years. It varies if you are on a tier 1 visa, it can be 2 or 3 years. If you have an Innovator or Global Talent visa, it can be 3 years. They are known as accelerated route to settlement.

Applicant may qualify for permanent residency if he has been living in the UK for a continuous lawful period of more than10 years.

Since June 2022, a migrant holding visa under private life can also apply for Indefinite leave to remain in the UK once the qualifying period is met.
